Trend Micro is delighted to announce a successful night at the Network Computing Awards – winning Storage Product of the Year with SafeSync for Enterprise while VP of Security Research, Rik Ferguson, bagged the Contribution to IT award.

“Trend Micro has been securing global 100 businesses, governments, SMBs and home users for over 25 years and is the largest pure play info-security vendor out there, so it's great to see our industry leadership recognised at the Network Computing Awards”, said Simon Young, VP & Managing Director UK & Ireland at Trend Micro. “Every day we block hundreds of millions of threats, while thousands of TrendLabs researchers work round the clock globally to ensure we can continue to offer the best possible protection. Awards like this are validation of the huge amount of time, effort and resources we dedicate to beating the bad guys and keeping our customers safe.”

Now in its eighth year, the Network Computing Awards brings together some of the industry’s biggest names to celebrate outstanding technological innovation and leadership in the network space across a range of categories including datacentre, device and testing.

Information security is a vital element of network management and Trend Micro is thrilled to have been recognised for its outstanding contribution to the industry.

SafeSync for Enterprise is Trend Micro’s corporate-grade sync and share product. It helps business users be more productive by allowing them to work on and share documents anytime, anywhere in a highly secure manner. File-based encryption ensures that sensitive data is kept from prying eyes when it is copied, mailed or shared across devices, while integration with DLP means IT managers can adhere to strict compliance requirements.

SafeSync for Enterprise can even be deployed within an enterprise’s own infrastructure so customers can maintain greater stewardship of their corporate data. Also collecting a Network Computing award was Trend Micro’s VP of Security Research, Rik Ferguson. Rik is a tireless spokesperson for Trend Micro, racking up countless Air Miles as he presents the company’s latest discoveries on the evolving threat landscape at major ICT conferences across the globe.

He brings more than 19 years’ experience in the information security industry to the role and most recently has been instrumental in creating Trend Micro’s ground-breaking web video project 2020: the Series. This series of online videos sets out to spark a wider debate our cyber future among all members of society, by dramatising the fictional events that occur at the end of the decade when hackers manage to shut down an entire country.

Rik is also Special Advisor to Europol, a project leader with the International Cyber Security Protection Alliance (ICSPA) and Vice Chair of the Centre for Strategic Cyberspace & Security Science.
